If you want to find something unique, off the beaten path, low-key and wholesome, Smoky Mountain environment in one go, Carver’s Orchards in Cosby, TN is probably the best item you could list on your itinerary.
The orchard is one of the more famous apple producers in the state of Tennessee and you know you’re coming close to it when you see the famous apple tree hills coming up on the road through Cosby. Carver’s features a produce barn where visitors can literally pick apples out of apple crates and tables and see what all the fuss is about for themselves. And they “produce” more than just apples as well – pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, jellies, jams, homemade fried pies, cider and more.
In addition to that, Carver’s has a restaurant that’s about as Southern as it gets featuring fried chicken, mashed potatoes, apple cobbler, apple pie, chicken pot pie, chicken and dumplings, apple fritters, corn, vegetable soup and more.
